Where do I drop off my child?
Your child can be walked to the Wiley lobby doors for morning parent drop off. Your child will line up with their class. A service squad member or teacher on duty will escort them to their line.
Who will walk my child off the bus to the lobby in the morning?
We have 5th grade service squad, 6th grade safeties and teachers on duty to escort your child to the lobby.
What if my child is late for school?
Your child must report to the office, advise the secretary of their name, grade and teacher, and get a late slip. They can then take the late slip and go directly to their class. You may accompany your child to the office to get the late slip. If the main school doors are locked, just press the button to the left of the door to be let in.
What if my child will be absent from school?
If your child is going to be late or absent from school, you have to notify the school by calling the absence line: 586-797-6799
Is child-care available before and after school?
Yes, Wiley has SACC (School Aged Child Care. You can contact the Wiley SACC: 586-797-6980
How do I find out about the school bus schedule and bus stops?
You will be notified of your child’s school bus stop before school begins. If you are not notified please call the Wiley Office.
Where will my child sit on the bus?
Kindergarten students sit in seats directly behind the bus driver. It is important that you introduce you and your child to your driver. At dismissal, Kindergarten children who ride the bus usually board the bus 5 minutes before other students to ensure they are safely on their bus.
What do I do if my child needs to leave early?
Parents should send a note/e-mail to the teacher and office explaining the date and time of early pick up. When the parent arrives to pick up the child, the child will be called to the office. Parents will sign children out using the checkout system in the office.
What is the bathroom policy for kindergarten students?
Kindergarten students have bathrooms in the classroom. Kindergarteners can use the bathrooms whenever they need. They should be able to do this on their ownJ We constantly stress the importance of washing hands throughout the day.
What if my child has a bathroom accident?
This is not an unusual event Kindergarteners do have accidents, and it is okay. We do ask that you send in an extra set of clothes to be kept in the classroom so they can go to the office and change with minimal disruption. If they do not have extra clothes, the office will call you to bring clothes to school.
Can I get the names and phone numbers of the other children in my child’s class for play dates and parties?
Due to privacy concerns, Wiley will not provide this information to our parents. Through parent pick-up, school events, volunteering and parties, you will have the opportunity to meet other parents and get this information yourself.
Can my child purchase lunch at school?
Yes, your child can bring in cash on the day that they would like to purchase lunch. In addition, you can go to https://www.sendmoneytoschool.com/Dashboard/login.aspx and put money in their account so they can buy lunch without the responsibility of bringing money to school every day. Most kindergarten parents prefer this method. You can also find the link to SendMoneyToSchool.com in the left column labeled Links to Useful Sites on this site.

What about food allergies?
If your child suffers from allergies, you must fill out appropriate health forms in the office.
What if my child is not eating all of their lunch?
Do Not Worry! Kindergarten children tend to eat very little lunch during the first few months of school. They are experiencing the lunchroom for the first time which takes some adjustment for the younger ones. As the year goes on, they will eat! During the first few months, you may be finding them a little hungrier when they get homeJ
My child keeps forgetting their coat, hat, mittens, etc. at school, is this normal?
Yes, kindergarteners are forgetful! Labels are so important. I often hold up clothing items that are left in the coatroom at the end of the day and they usually go unclaimed! If they have a label it makes it so much easier!If you do find that an item has been left at school, please contact me and I will check the classroom and return it if I have it.
